Graph plotting

Mavis is the ultimate graphing calculator, and the great news is that the student edition is free! See the wiki tutorial.

Create and explore xy graphs, polar graphs and data plots. Use standard mathematical functions, or define your own, including non-linear and iterative functions. Mavis can also handle vectors, matrices and complex numbers.

Interactive graphs

Mavis graphs are not just static images. You can add controls such as sliders, buttons or draggable control points which sit right on the graph to make it interactive.

It is extremely simple to link controls to graph parameters, because each control can directly affect a variable which can be used in the plot. But if you feel the need to try something more advanced, there is a full programming language to play with.

Text and geometry

Annotate your graphs with text and equations. Equations can be formatted automatically, or you can import MathML from your favourite maths editor.

Create geometric diagrams, using points, lines, shapes, angle markers and fill regions. Geometry elements can be used on their own, or integrated into a graph. Geometry can be animated and controlled just like function plots.

3D graphs

Mavis also provides 3D graphs, including customisable color maps, and contour maps.
